 Kenny Chesney will continue country music's strong association with the gridiron when he debuts his new song, "This Is Our Moment," on ESPN September 3. It will be used during the the network's "Kickoff Week" and "Championship Saturday" as well as coming in and out of commercial breaks throughout the season. The song was written on a cocktail napkin while dining with football commentator Brett Musberger and analyst Kirk Herbstreit before the singer sat in on ESPN's "College Game Day" during the Auburn-Vanderbilt game last fall. “It was one of those moments of spontaneous inspiration,” Chesney told Music Row. “We were talking about how much goes into getting on that field, what it means to those guys out there… and [producer] Bill Bonnell turns to me and says, ‘You oughta write a song about it.' It just hit me! I asked for a cocktail napkin, and started writing the verses and the chorus.” |
