Hailing from Garner, North Carolina, eighteen-year-old Scotty McCreery is winner of the tenth season of American Idol. A young man full of natural talent who can handle the complex demands and environments of a country music star… he’s also not afraid to talk about his Christian faith, maintaining that it is his relationship with God that’s gotten him where he is today. After winning “Idol,” Scotty released the first single from his debut album, Clear As Day. Titled, “I Love You This Big,” it made a successful showing on our countdown.
Scotty’s sophomore release from that same album is titled, “The Trouble With Girls.” The lyrics are smart… “they smile that smile, they bat those eyes, they steal you with hello, they kill you with good-bye”… yet not out of character with something you might expect to be sung by a teenager. The music, on the other hand… is not exactly something you would anticipate from a teen. The vocal is controlled… but not contrived, rich, mature, and undeniably country. How high will Scotty McCreery’s newest single rise in our countdown? Tune in each weekend to the Country Top 40 and find out.
