My special request goes out to my daughter, Haylie and my boyfreind, Shawn.
Like a lot of young people, I used to work, go to school and do a lot of other stuff all at the same time. But at the moment, it is just not possible. I am a stay at home mom right now and I love every minute of it.
The song I’d like to hear is Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue.” It has a lot of meaning for me. And now, my 3 year old is getting into it as well. She is starting to know the lyrics, and she loves to dance to it. And that is what makes me happiest. Seeing little Haylie dance!
Last year, I went back to my little hometown in Montana for my 40-year high school reunion. I drove out to our old family cattle ranch and just sat there in my truck looking and remembering all the things that were milestones in my life -- milestones in that house. Like the slumber parties, my first kiss by the back door, and saying goodbye to my sisters when they left home for college.
My parents long ago moved from the ranch, and it is no longer the showplace it once was: the barn doors are falling off as well as the metal on the roof. The feedlot my father built is still there but no cattle occupy the pens, and the alfalfa fields have turned to weeds.
I would like you to play “The House That Built Me”. That day, I took many a picture of the old place, and as I did tears just rolled down my face as that song kept playing in my head along with the memories.
