Five things you may not know about Waylon Jennings

1. Contrary to popular belief, Waylon was NOT an original member of Buddy Holly's band The Crickets.  He only played bass for one tour--Buddy's final tour.

2. Over the years, Waylon has changed the lyrics of "Amanda" based on his personal age.  "Now I'm OVER THIRTY, and still wearing Jeans"...then he sang..."Well I finally     MADE FORTY, and still wearing Jeans"...then..."Well I'm finally PAST FORTY, and still wearing Jeans" (fact courtesy of Jerry Hofhenke.)

3. When Waylon moved to Nashville in 1965, he became roommates with Johnny Cash.

4. Waylon Jennings lost one battle with his wife that we know about…when he and Jessi Colter had their son in 1979, he did not want to call him Waylon Junior, but              Jessi prevailed and he was named Waylon Albright Jennings.  So Waylon chose to call him “Shooter, ” and the name stuck…their musician son is known as “Shooter            Jennings” to this day.

5. When Buddy Holly was killed in a plane crash, Waylon blamed himself.
